Constant Tension Transport with Electronic Servo Drive (CTT-E) is a dynamic test instrument that is available as a mini laboratory for yarns. With its interchangeable test modules, the CTT-E can run more than 10 tests on the same instrument for all natural and synthetic yarns as well as technical yarns such as aramids, carbon, glassfiber and spandex. With this versatility along with its dynamic test principle that will test every section of the yarn, the CTT-E offers the ability to eliminate high cost of running trials on actual production machines before the yarn is sent to the next textile process.

LH-450 CTT-E
  • Electronic Servo Drive and Tension Arm System that maintain 2g-1000g constant input tension at test speeds between 20-1000m/min

  • Offers dynamic test conditions that tests every section of yarn to predict yarn behavior and avoid high cost of running trials on production machines

  • Easy to install test modules that allow measurement from coefficient of friction, entanglement count to yarn appearance on the same instrument

  • Four Tension Arms with different max tension and sensitivity ranges

  • Available with Standard (1000g) and Spandex Range (100g) tension measurement heads

  • Applicable for all types of natural and synthetic yarns, including cotton, polyester, nylon, wool, silk, acrylic, flax, viscose, carpet yarns

FAK-S FIBER ANALYSIS KNITTER SAMPLER

LH-122 FAK-S

The Lawson Hemphill FAK-Sampler, FAK-S is recognized as the worldwide standard for lab knitting machines. It is a high-speed, precision knitting machine designed to check uniformity and consistency of the yarn quickly and accurately. It is ideal for use in production control and R&D labs as well as dyeing plants.

In any knitting application, the yarn tension and the yarn feed controls are critical to ensure fabric uniformity. Any changes in these variables during knitting will cause irregularities, creating a defective fabric. The FAK-S has a built-in Stitch Control System, which ensures the preparation of the standard samples of knit fabric for yarn quality control purposes. The machine also features a take-up assembly to collect the fabric under controlled tension to further ensure fabric uniformity.

The FAK-S can knit all types of yarns, including synthetic and natural fibers as well as monofilament, filament, elastomeric and spun yarns. Nine different cylinder sizes are available to knit yarns from 10d up to 2000d. All knitting cylinders are interchangeable and can be used with all Lawson Hemphill knitters. (Please consult Lawson Hemphill for knitting higher or lower denier yarns).

FST SIMULTANEOUS SHRINKAGE% AND SHRINKAGE FORCE TESTER

LH-610 FST

FST, Force Shrinkage Tester measures the Shrinkage % and Shrinkage Force on the yarn simultaneously. The system is a closed unit, which maintains a controlled atmosphere as the test is progressing.

The system uses a high temperature heater to measure in Shrinkage % and Shrinkage Force. The heaters can be individually programmed up to 300˚C to run tests independent of each other. (Optional High Temp Heaters up to 450˚C).

The FST is equipped with 2 clamps. Different clamp designs are available to accommodate yarn types from tire cords to elastomeric yarns.

The standard load cell is 200g. Also available are load cells from 10g to 2000 g, depending on the yarn type to be tested.

FST Software automates all calculations for Shrinkage Force and Shrinkage % based on temperature and time parameters. In addition, built in temperature ramp feature allows the user to test the yarn against increasing temperature levels. This feature allows the operator to predict optimum temperature settings for run ability of individual yarns packages.

The test process is automated. A yarn sample is clamped and the test button is activated. Automatically the yarn is inserted into the closed heater chamber for testing. The software plots the shrinkage % or shrinkage force data in real time. Statistical analysis is made at the end of each test.

  • Automated testing system for simultaneous measurement of Shrinkage % and Shrinkage Force of the yarn

  • Complies with ASTM D4974, ASTM D5591, EN 13844

  • Enclosed system that maintains a draft-free environment during test

  • Dual, non-contact heaters individually programmable to run tests under constant or temperature ramp mode with 5 settings from ambient to 300˚C (Optional High Temp Heaters up to 450˚C)

  • 10g, 200g or 2000g load cell available to meet the required force measurement precision

  • Light duty or heavy duty clamp designs available to provide non-slip grip for different yarn types from elastomeric yarns to tire cords

  • Friction free pulley to measure the Shrinkage % with ± 0.1% precision

  • Five programmable temperature settings allow temperature ramp and soak interval

  • Windows based, easy-to-use software features
